Jim Dolance of Peoria and his four-legged hiking companion Lucy escaped the crowds on the Maricopa Trail in and around Cave Creek Regional Park during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Lucy and me on the back side of Go John trail where it connects with the Maricopa Trail. Pretty sure this has been burned up with that fire* a few weeks back. Beautiful hike I did 3 sections 3 weeks in a row near the end of March. It was great social distancing area.”

• The East Desert Fire that was reported on May 25, 2020 and covered 1,492 acres including parts of Cave Creek Regional Park, is now 100% contained. The Maricopa Trail in that area is back open and is still a beautiful hike.
